Marathon ManiacsJust how did I do it? I ran two marathons within 16 days and earned my way into the club as a Bronze level member: Rock ‘n Roll New Orleans and the 41st Annual Tallahassee Marathon. There are eight more levels of MM to work up to.

Do you think you might be a marathon maniac??? Here are a few questions to help you realize how crazy you might be…. (taken from http://www.marathonmaniacs.com)

The Accidental Adventure to My First Blog Conference

Bloggy Bootcamp blog Conference, blogging, blog, blogger

While on vacation a few months ago, I was reading a blog, which led to another blog, which led to a link, then an article, and somehow I landed on a page to sign up for a blog conference. Seeing that I had just enough funds in Paypal account, I decided.. “why not, I’m willing to learn.” Granted, my little blog is mostly a leisure activity and I didn’t really think I had any business at a blog conference.

Leading up to the event, I read a few blog posts and articles on how to be prepared. If you are looking for a comprehensive article about blog conferences, I suggest reading Bloggers IRL: Get the Most Out of Blogging Conferences. You will get pointers on how to pick a conference, how to be prepared, how to maximize the experience, and how to have a game plan afterward. Continue reading

I am very excited to announce that we are putting together a RUN 10 FEED 10 group in Thomasville, GA! What is RUN 10 FEED 10?

Per Women’s Health:

About RUN 10 FEED 10

Right now, 49 million Americans are going hungry—they don’t know when they will get their next meal. The reality is there IS enough food in the world today for everyone to get the nourishment they need for a healthy and productive life.

HUNGER IS THE WORLD’S MOST SOLVABLE PROBLEM.

It’s something we can do something about. Together, we can make a huge impact in a very simple way. All you have to do is RUN!

This fall, Women’s Health will once again host our run with a mission. Run a 10K with us, and you will instantly provide 10 meals for those going hungry in your local and surrounding neighborhoods. You can join us by racing in New York City, Chicago or San Francisco, or you can join us at Fun Runs nationwide. If you don’t live in one of our host cities – you can still participate! Sign up to run your own 10K! The money from your registration and fundraising efforts will go to those metropolitan areas nearest to you.

How do I get involved? For the runners…

We are planning a 10k group run on October 4, 2014. It will be an open course run following the Rose City 10k course.

HALF FANATIC Application

Half FanaticsMy love of running began in the late 1990’s, but it wasn’t until 2011 that I ran my first 5k. Admittedly, it had been a few years since I had run regularly and getting through more than one mile was more than challenging. On top of that, I was also nursing my youngest, who was eight months old at the time.

My finish time would not have passed an Army physical fitness test, but I was overjoyed just to finish. I walked away from this event with a renewed passion for running. Four months later, I found myself in a regular running routine and often surfing the internet looking for local races.

Since May 2011, I have run several 5ks, 10ks, four half marathons, and one full marathon. I have run races with my kids in a double jogging stroller, I have raced dressed up, and I have raced on hot days and races where it was pouring rain. Currently, my favorite distance is half marathon.

More than a year ago, I had a few friends tell me about Half Fanatics and told me to apply.  I finally got around to getting my membership application in this week and am anxiously awaiting my Half Fanatics member number. I have qualified for the first level- Neptune (one moon). Am I already looking at races so that I can move up to the next level in the Half Fanatic hierarchy? Of course I am!
