Run 2 Remember 10k Recap

Moultrie Run Finish

OFFICIAL FINISH TIME: 52:41

PLACE: 9/17, 1st overall female

Last minute decision = First place finish… imagine that…

On Thursday, I was asked if I was interested in racing the Run 2 Remember on Saturday, August 2, 2014. I said “sure,” and was thinking in the back of my mind, “sure, you won’t remember you asked me.” Knowing I had a long bike ride the day before, I wasn’t thinking about running a hard race the next day…. However, a 5:30 am Saturday morning test message reminded me that this race thing was happening. I spent the next 20 minutes fumbling in the dark for running clothes, shoes, hat, sunglasses, iPod, Flipbelt, food, and car keys. Continue reading

Because I want to be a Marathon Maniac

All summer I have had this crazy idea that I want to join the ever exclusive and awesome club called Marathon Maniacs.  Most rational, logical, common sense retaining human beings would never fathom such a ludicrous idea.  Rather than elaborate on the cool details and criteria, I will let you click on the link and peruse the criteria for yourself…. I warn you, if you actually are crazy enough to click on the link, then you are probably headed down the same road as me.

I’ve tried to talk myself out of this silly idea, even reminding myself of the misery I feel at mile 18 or mile 20 of any long run, but I still can’t seem to shake the idea. So, I am officially declaring the inevitable – to become a Marathon Maniac in 2015.

Which brings me to my first step… creating a race schedule. The only criteria I have ever had is that a race location must be within driving distance. This criteria actually opens up several races in my radius through the Fall and Winter, and even Early Spring. In plotting out my schedule, I got stumped by having to pick between two races – the 26.2 with Donna Marathon for Breast Cancer or the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans, which benefits several charities that I support, including St. Jude’s Hospital, Hope for the Warriors, and Operation Homefront. TRIBOX Product Review: Veggie-Go’s

Chewy Fruit & Veggie Snack by Veggie-Go’s

carrot_drawing_1

I had planned to try the Veggie-Go before or after one of my workouts this past week, but never got around to it. The package was stuffed in my gym bag, left in my car one day (by the way, I live in South Georgia and I am sure that temps in the car get over 120°F), was put in my running belt during a long run one day, and then stuffed in my purse for a few days.
