Freedom Springs Sprint Triathlon Race Recap: 7.4.2014

Freedom Springs Sprint Triathlon

This is the second year I have participated in the Freedom Springs Sprint Triathlon and is officially a 4th of July tradition for me. Due to a very busy and hectic schedule leading up to the 4th, I wasn’t sure if any of our Tri Club members had signed up for the event.

Race Day

The forecast for race day: Sunny, HOT, and HOTTER. Since this was not my first time taking small country roads to Marianna, FL, I was able to enjoy the drive and not worry about getting lost. Once I arrived, I checked in, got my body marked, set up my transition, and was pleasantly surprised to see several of our Tri Club members. One of our Tri Club members looked a little nervous, more nervous than usual, and I asked her how many of these she had done. She told me this was her first and she was nervous about the cold water and the swim. I told her I would swim with her if she wanted. Continue reading

Summer Sun & GIVEAWAY Winners!

Congrats to our winners: Heather W. & Vera G.

It is officially summer and what better way to start summer than with a GIVEAWAY?!?

Since we watch Frozen near about every day in my house, I cannot help but hear Olaf singing about what happens to snowmen whenever I hear the word “summer.”Olaf summertime

I am a cold weather girl at heart and would give anything for a day on the mountain with my snowboard, snacks crammed into my pockets, a tube of sunblock and some chapstick. My sun care regimen began when I was in my teens when I became a snowboard instructor. Being on a mountain with the sun blaring from above and reflecting off the snow can do some damage if you don’t take precautions.

Having moved to South Georgia a few years ago means that I never see a chairlift, snow, or the mountains anymore. What it does mean is summertime sun during triathlons, the pool, and the beach. I have two amazing little girls, who have eczema like me. Our after sun care regimen is just as important as our pre-sun and during sun routine.

Girls on Beach

We are careful about the sunblock and creams we use, which is why I love Herbalife Herbal Aloe products. The Herbal Aloe Soothing Gel is the first thing we put on after rinsing off the salt water or chlorine. The Soothing Gel is paraben-free, sulfate-free, fragrance-free and is soothing to my gentle skin and on my 3 yr-old and 5 yr-old. We also use the Herbal Aloe Hand & Body Cream, Shampoo, and Conditioner…Because I have a 3 & 5 yr-old, it also means I have two little girls that love to get into stuff and use up all the cream when I am not paying attention… which is also why I am so grateful to have affordable products that are wonderful for our skin.

Being a fan of these products makes me very excited about this GIVEAWAY!

Confessions of a Mommy on the Run…

Running

Three things I have learned about running…

Granted, I have learned way more than just three things about myself, about others, about things I did not want to happen, about awesome and not so awesome moments…. but, these were the three on the tip of my mind today…. Now, excuse me while I try to find a discount code for a Flipbelt.

1. I have commitment phobia.

Nowhere else in my life do I have commitment phobia, except when it comes to running. I will go for a run with anyone, if they can bring themselves to slow down to my turtle pace, but I rarely run with the same group more than three times.

2. Looking ridiculous has become a new kind of awesome.

I say this because my running belt looks very much like a fanny pack and I am totally okay with that. I would rather wear and run with my fanny pack on than have my arm rubbed raw from an arm band.

3. Did you say illiotibial band?

Not only do I know where it is but can have an hour-long discussion on IT band issues to the point where most people wished they never asked me.

What have you learned?

Give it a try…. Tribox by Runnerbox
