A Plank a Day Challenge: Day 17 of 30, 3:10 seconds

I decided to take on the plank a day challenge for 30 days. I have never held the plank position for more than 90 seconds at one time so I am wondering if I will really be able to hold it longer than that as time wears on.

(2.2) Day 17 – 3:10 sec: I almost decided to not attempt 3:10 tonight. I figured that since I am running a Half Marathon tomorrow, that I should not plank in an effort to keep my muscles strong… Pretty weak excuse, right? After some deliberation, I decided to go ahead and plank it out. I planked and read an e-mail from my friend…. as the clock ticked on, I realized that 1:40 had gone by, I was half way done and sweating and shaking. When the clock reached 2:10 and I realized I still had another minute to go, I near about threw in the towel.  I’m not sure how I made it to 3:10, but my arms, shoulder, quads, and back are feeling it now. I might have to give myself a break tomorrow after tackling 13.1 miles.

Tallahassee Half-Marathon Race Playlist

I’ve always relied on a handy mix of songs to get me through a workout or a run. However, when I started running longer distances, I realized my playlists were often too short and started scouring blogs and iTunes to get ideas for new mixes. Here’s my playlist for Sunday’s Half Marathon; some songs are long time favorites, some make me smile and want to dance, and a few make me want to push through the 10 mile-wall I know I will hit. Enjoy!

A Plank a Day Challenge: Day 16 of 30, 3:00 seconds

I decided to take on the plank a day challenge for 30 days. I have never held the plank position for more than 90 seconds at one time so I am wondering if I will really be able to hold it longer than that as time wears on.

(2.1) Day 16 – 3:00 sec: Accomplished! However, 20 minutes later my back is still feeling it. I’ve officially passed the halfway mark on the challenge and I can’t believe I held the plank for 3:00, which is twice as long as I ever recall holding it. In fact, I think I have only held it 45 seconds at a time. It is pretty torturous to look down at the timer and realize you still have at least a minute to go and your entire body is shaking.

A Plank a Day Challenge: Day 15 of 30, 2:50 seconds

I decided to take on the plank a day challenge for 30 days. I have never held the plank position for more than 90 seconds at one time so I am wondering if I will really be able to hold it longer than that as time wears on.

(1.31) Day 15 – 2:50 sec: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me! So, I pretty much refused to fail on my birthday. I’ve got a full-blown cold and when I got down to plank I could feel the pressure in my sinuses. Still, I was not going to give up on my birthday – I think it would have been a bad omen for the year to come, not that I believe in superstitions or anything. Only 10 seconds stands between me and 3:00 minutes.
