A Plank a Day Challenge: Day 30, 3:00 and done!

I decided to take on the plank a day challenge for 30 days. I have never held the plank position for more than 90 seconds at one time so I am wondering if I will really be able to hold it longer than that as time wears on.

(2.17) Day 30 – 3:00 sec: Well, I did not end my 30 day challenge with a new PR and I was two days late. Saturday’s half marathon (my third half marathon this year) was more demanding on my knee than I was prepared for. So, I decided to finish my weekend and my challenge with a 3:00 plank in honor of day 30. I never thought I would get to 4:00 minutes and am quite proud that I have. A buddy of mine has texted me and challenged me to plank every day till the end of the year to see what kind of PR we can set. HHmmmm…. I am still not sure if I am ready to accept this challenge.

A Plank a Day Challenge: Day 27, 4:00 – Bike, swim, & plank?

I decided to take on the plank a day challenge for 30 days. I have never held the plank position for more than 90 seconds at one time so I am wondering if I will really be able to hold it longer than that as time wears on.

(2.12) Day 27 – 4:00 sec: The 4 minute plank did not happen tonight. I made it to a whopping 2:10. Maybe it was the 45 minute torture session on the bike this morning or maybe it was the lunch time swim with sprint intervals. It could quite possibly have been those jalapeno chips burning in my belly as well. 3 days left… I hope to conquer the elusive 4 minute mark by day 30.

A Plank a Day Challenge: Day 17 of 30, 3:10 seconds

I decided to take on the plank a day challenge for 30 days. I have never held the plank position for more than 90 seconds at one time so I am wondering if I will really be able to hold it longer than that as time wears on.

(2.2) Day 17 – 3:10 sec: I almost decided to not attempt 3:10 tonight. I figured that since I am running a Half Marathon tomorrow, that I should not plank in an effort to keep my muscles strong… Pretty weak excuse, right? After some deliberation, I decided to go ahead and plank it out. I planked and read an e-mail from my friend…. as the clock ticked on, I realized that 1:40 had gone by, I was half way done and sweating and shaking. When the clock reached 2:10 and I realized I still had another minute to go, I near about threw in the towel.  I’m not sure how I made it to 3:10, but my arms, shoulder, quads, and back are feeling it now. I might have to give myself a break tomorrow after tackling 13.1 miles.

A Plank a Day Challenge: Day 15 of 30, 2:50 seconds

I decided to take on the plank a day challenge for 30 days. I have never held the plank position for more than 90 seconds at one time so I am wondering if I will really be able to hold it longer than that as time wears on.

(1.31) Day 15 – 2:50 sec: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me! So, I pretty much refused to fail on my birthday. I’ve got a full-blown cold and when I got down to plank I could feel the pressure in my sinuses. Still, I was not going to give up on my birthday – I think it would have been a bad omen for the year to come, not that I believe in superstitions or anything. Only 10 seconds stands between me and 3:00 minutes.
